How to configure a cash drawer to open with InBloom

In order to have your Mac machine open a cash drawer when a receipt is printed, you must do the following.  Note that if you are using InBloom over a network, you must log out of InBloom on all machines except the server.  Click on any thumbnail below to enlarge

  1. First, ensure that your cash drawer is properly connected to your Star thermal receipt printer
  2. Login to InBloom using an administrator user
  3. From the Main Menu, click Other Modules, then Show Printouts file
  4. Once the Printouts window is displayed, click the small toolbar button on the bottom left corner of the window
  5. On the upper left corner of the window, choose Printouts Setup from the Layout pulldown menu
  6. On the new Setup screen, place a checkmark next to the Show Print Dialog checkbox on the bottom left of the window
  7. Click the Close Window button on the top right corner
  8. From the Main Menu in InBloom, choose Other Modules, then Printers / Stations
  9. Navigate to the line with your Receipt Printer, make sure the proper printer is selected, and click Send A Test Print
  10. When the Print dialog is presented, click on FileMaker Pro in the center pulldown menu and choose the Printer Features option
  11. Next to Feature Sets, choose Cash Drawer Control
  12. Set the Cash Drawer option to Open Drawers 1 and 2
  13. Set the Cash Drawer 1 Pulse Width to 200 milliseconds
  14. Under the Presets menu at the top, choose Save As
  15. Set the Preset Name to Open Cash Drawer
  16. Make sure the Preset Available For option is set to Only this printer
  17. Click OK
  18. You’re done!

Anytime you now print a receipt, you’ll see the standard Mac print dialog and it should remember the Open Cash Drawer option automatically.  You’ll only need to hit Enter on your keyboard to print a receipt and open the cash drawer.
